Colloborative project BOWI

BOWI stands for Boosting and Widening Digital Innovation Hubs. The BOWI project is part of the European Commission’s Smart Anything Everywhere initiative that aims to boost innovation uptake across Europe through widening and knowledge transfer between different regions and innovation hubs.

Project aim

The BOWI project aims to create a structured approach to collaboration between Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) across Europe. The main focus of BOWI is to promote widening of DIHs, meaning increasing the participation of less developed countries to improve the competitiveness of the regions and ensure long-term social cohesion.

Main focus

The main focus of BOWI is to promote widening of DIHs, meaning increasing the participation of less developed countries to improve the competitiveness of the regions and ensure long-term social cohesion. The project will use the expertise and infrastructure from well-established and highly experienced DIHs (established hubs) to improve the capacity of DIHs in regions currently underrepresented in European digitisation and digitalisation programmes (developing hubs).

Objectives

BOWI objectives for boosting digital innovation excellence in Europe include:

  • establishing an active DIH widening community that will continue to function in a self- sustainable way after the conclusion of the project;
  • developing a long-term sustainable blended finance accelerator programme;
  • exploring appealing and sustainable business model for further collaboration between Digital Innovation Hubs;
  • enhancing the capacity of advanced digital technology uptake in regions that are currently underrepresented.
