Abstract:
3D heterogeneous integration poses new requirements to the modeling of interconnection networks. Traditional simulation models for Networks-on-Chip (NoCs) cover neither asymmetric components nor heterogeneous integration. Generic decomposition of the network model into functional components with interfaces enables design space exploration, simulation, and verification that are accurate, precise, and versatile. We specify a decomposition such that well-defined interfaces allow for accurate parameter description. This enables more accurate high-level power and performance models. We provide an implementation of a simulator and an exemplary application for a 3D Vision System on Chips. The specified model is the first allowing for technology, performance, and power evaluation of A-3D NoCs.
