ICE at the 50th Design Automation Conference

ICE will be represented at this year's Design Automation Conference (DAC'13) with two research papers and two demos at the UMIC booth. This year, DAC takes place in Austin, Texas, USA from June 2nd till June 6th.

The first paper, entitled "CoARX: A Coprocessor for ARX-based Cryptographic Algorithms", will be presented by Anupam Chattopadhyay. In this paper, a novel crypto-coprocessor, named CoARX, supporting multiple cryptographic algorithms based on Addition (A), Rotation (R) and eXclusive-or (X) operations is proposed. CoARX introduces a new view of flexibility from the algorithmic perspective. We show that compared to dedicated hardware implementations and general-purpose microprocessors, it offers excellent performance-flexibility trade-off including adaptability to resist generic cryptanalysis.

The second paper, entitled "Creation of ESL Power Models for Communication Architectures using Automatic Calibration", will be presented by Stefan Schürmans. He will discuss a new approach for creation of power models on Electronic System Level (ESL). It requires just a power trace of a known scenario recorded at a lower level. The approach has been developed in the "High-Level Power Estimation for Communication Architectures of MPSoCs" project.

Both demos at the UMIC booth focus on high level power estimation. The first demo will show the ESL power estimation methodology from the second paper. The second demo will show how to estimate the power of custom processors on the level of architecture description languages using the LISA language as an example.
