Institute for Communication Technologies and Embedded Systems

Our mobile radio laboratory offers true radio experience at RWTH Aachen University. The main goal is to provide the state-of-the-art radio communication systems experimentation facility to our students and collaboration partners. We provide students with opportunity to test and validate communication theory and concepts through simulations or experimental setups.

We also offer expertise to our industry partners to jointly design novel algorithms and further validate and test with simulators or experiment on radio platforms. The facility features different hardware and software tools needed in order to model and test novel radio interface designs for the next generations of radio communications systems.

Our research interests are related but not limited to:

  1. Radio technologies for next-generation connectivity and architectures
  2. AI-based setup, optimization and automation between radio access and edge cloud
  3. Data analytics for diagnostics and troubleshooting of communication networks
  4. Close-loop and autonomous systems for latency/reliability constrained applications
