Collaborative Project: European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) Rheinland

Many companies find it difficult to implement digital competencies, for example due to uncertainties regarding data protection and data security or a lack of skilled workers. Identifying use cases and comparing tools available on the market with their own requirements is often subject to day-to-day business. In particular, technical and methodological know-how in the integration of AI applications takes a back seat to process-side knowledge. In addition, setting up computing structures is a major hurdle.

Based on the motivation to meet these challenges, paving the way to digitalization for medium-sized companies, enabling the use of AI and thus, creating efficient and intelligent business processes, partners from different fields of expertise have joined forces in the EDIH Rheinland consortium. The network, which is linked throughout Europe, pursues the goal of bringing digitization and AI solutions and the knowledge required for their application to small and medium-sized enterprises through professional impulses, training programmes, and cross-industry support projects.

Objectives

EDIH Rheinland offers a unique chance for small and medium-sized companies to tap into a wealth of skills and expertise keen on digitalizing their products. It serves as a contact point for small and medium-sized companies, for innovation hubs, as well as for providers and users of new technologies in artificial intelligence, digital skills, and high-performance computing.

Its scope is not only limited to the immediate Rhineland area in Germany, but also supports Westphalian companies and businesses near the border triangle between Germany, the Dutch province of Limburg, and the Belgium Walloon region, including the French- and German-speaking areas.

ICE Involvement

Our institute is active in two aspects: by supporting small and medium-sized companies

  • on their way to digitalize their products with respect to artificial intelligence and neuromorphic computing; and
  • for cross-border collaboration activities with others within the EDIH network.

Neuromorphic computing is a game-changer in the tech world, aiming to revolutionize energy efficiency by bringing computational operations closer to memory, a concept aptly known as "computing-in-memory."

We are actively looking for new collaborations with start-ups and small- and medium-sized companies interested in the neuromorphic field. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
